Have you ever wanted to compose a song, solo piece, or film score? Have you wanted to learn more about how a piece of music goes from concept to reality? At Northeast Iowa School of Music, you can learn from one of our professional, award-winning composers. You will learn the basics of the compositional process, instrumentation, and using music software to create your own, original scores.

Experience

Flynn is a professional composer for film, television, and concert-hall symphonic and choral music.

Flynn has composed and orchestrated the scores for a variety of films and television shows. His Hollywood music department credits include over 100 of the world’s biggest movies and television series, including Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Frozen II, The Mandalorian, and many others.

​Flynn’s concert works are performed regularly worldwide, including commissions and performances by major symphony orchestras, choirs, and ensembles in Japan, France, South Korea, China, Australia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Poland, Italy, Ireland, Slovenia, and throughout the U.S. His works consistently win or place as a finalist in composition contests around the world.

Experience
Tracey Rush is the founder of Northeast Iowa School of Music and is the founding conductor of the Dubuque Community String Orchestra. She has a BS in Music Education from Bob Jones University and a Masters of Music from UNI. She taught strings in the Dubuque Community School District for 18 years and general music at Tri-State Christian School for 3 years.
 
She also spent several years as an adjunct at NICC, Emmaus Bible College, UW-Platteville, University of Dubuque, and Clarke University. As a composer, she has had works commissioned by many schools around the country, the Dubuque Symphony, and the Knoxville Symphony, and served four terms as chair of the Iowa Composers Forum. She served many years as the principal violist of the Dubuque Symphony and is a veteran chamber music player.
