Please submit your application before you plan to register. Applications for group classes and workshops will be accepted throughout the year from any student.

The primary deadline is July 15, 2023.  Students must apply each school year they wish to be considered for funding.

Funding is provided by Leisure Services of Dubuque and private donors.

Scholarship funds will reduce the cost of all tuition. Families will still be responsible for the cost of the registration fee.

All scholarship students are expected to demonstrate commitment to our school and their music education via attendance and participation.

Flint-Lindsay Scholarship – for Continuing Students

The Flint-Lindsay Scholarship Fund was established in 2013 to provide tuition funding to students at Northeast Iowa School of Music. Funding is provided by James & Susan Lindsay through an endowed scholarship fund.

For the 2023-2024 school year, one student will be awarded a full scholarship for weekly 30-minute private lessons. Applicants should intend to study at our school for the entire 2023-2024 school year.

The ideal recipient is a student who has been nominated by one of our faculty members as an outstanding musician who displays a passion for musical performance, has been taking lessons with us for at least one year, and needs financial assistance to continue his/her music education. The Flint-Lindsay Scholarship is open to Northeast Iowa School of Music students of any age and is eligible for all lesson types. Students with both financial need and outstanding musicianship are strongly encouraged to apply. Musicianship will be weighed slightly heavier than financial need in selecting the recipient. Students must have studied at Northeast Iowa School of Music between July 1, 2022, and May 31, 2023.

Preference will be given to students who will have been enrolled at our school for at least one school year as of August 2023.

The 2023-24 application deadline is July 15, 2023.

A separate application for general scholarship consideration for the 2023-2024 school year is not necessary.

Scholarship funds will cover the cost of all tuition. Families will still be responsible for the cost of the registration fee.

All scholarship students are expected to demonstrate commitment to Northeast Iowa School of Music and their music education through attendance and participation.

Ryan Scholarship – for New Students

The Ryan Scholarship Fund was established in 2017 in memory of Leroy and Marion Ryan. This funding for students to study at Northeast Iowa School of Music is provided through an endowed scholarship fund.

The ideal recipient is a student who intends to enroll at Northeast Iowa School of Music and has been recommended by a teacher or other adult who can attest that the student shows potential to succeed in his/her music lessons and who has sufficient need of financial aid. The Ryan Scholarship is open to music students of any age and is eligible for all lesson types. Preference will be given to students who will have never been enrolled at Northeast Iowa School of Music. Students who have been enrolled at here for less than two years and who demonstrate both financial need and musical potential will also be considered.
